I am prepared to be absolutely flamed here, but I know you all will have the answers I'm looking for..Here goes.
I have a '64 F100 that I'd like to install the front suspension from a doner 'Star. It is becoming a relatively common practice to upgrade the '64 straight front axle equipped with drum brakes to the 'star which has many more advantages, AND it is pretty much a bolt it deal, or so I'm told.
My question is 2 part. I'd like to put in the beast a 4.6 V8, and am wondering 1) is the 4.6 in anyway similar in architecture to the 4.0 or 4.2? 2) What engine options were available that would be a close match to fitment of the 4.6?
I'm trying to reduce the amount of fabrication in engine mounting, hoping there are some options that would be close or better, bolt up!!
Thanks!
Thanks VanGO...I've read these and many like 'em before. I'm really just looking for what engines were available, if close enough to the 4.6 I'd look for that van and get the motor perches and engine mounts...it'd at least be parts to start with.
