Swing-Away Mirror Head Replacement
My '93 has a cracked driver's side mirror. After coasting through a few years of state inspections using those cheapie stick-on "emergency replacement" mirrors, I decided to actually replace it. Trips to the salvage yard over a period of months found plenty of '92 and earlier candidates, but no '93 and on (the swing-away arm mount differently).
So, plan B was to find a decent head on any Ford and simply replace the one on the truck. Seemed staight-forward enough, until I tried to loosen the Torx bolt holding the mirror-head onto the arm. Snapped a cheap Torx bit using only a 3/8" ratchet!
Long story short - I found an immaculate mirror-head on an old Bronco II at the boneyard. Now I just need to figure out how to get it off its swing-arm and onto my truck (ditto for getting the old head off).
I don't have a compressor or impact wrench, but maybe this is a good excuse for a purchase?
Ideas???-Steve
