Does anyone know what it would roughly cost to have a frame sandblasted? I'm starting to consider having it done instead of stripping it myself by hand. I finished removing the fuel lines and wiring harness. But I'm having second thoughts about stripping the frame by hand.
I stripped my crewcab frame and took it in for sandblasting and painting. I paid $120 for it to be done. I just had my rear axle blasted and painted too and that was only $40. its way faster and cheaper to pay someone else to do it...and its probably done better too.
Maybe look around for a DIY's sandblasting shop in your area.
Some places that require a large area for sandblasting tanks and stuff also allow people to RENT their equipment on site.
Just trailer your chassis to their yard, they set you up with a suit and work station and you pay by the hour.

Your on the right track - sandblast the frame and have someone else do it!!! I paid $400 to have my stripped 78 crewcab frame blasted. This included the front and rear axle. You won't believe how much cleaner the frame will be versus cleaning by hand and the time you save will definitely be worth the $$$$.
I spent $200.00on sand blasting and another 225.00 on powder coat. well worth the money in my opinion. that was on a 76 ford regular cab 4x4. cheaper than paint quotes i got in my area
Boz...I hope you got a better job than I did with some wheels I had walnut shell blasted and then powder coated. Within 2 years there was rust coming right through the powder coating. I was then told that powder coating only works properly on brand new (perfectly smooth) metal surfaces.
Huck... get some really good advice on boxing your frame from an experienced frame shop. I suspect that by boxing it you might be just adding alot of weight and possibly weakening the frame at the same time. Find out if your truck has the heavier frame or the lighter frame first.
