Exhaust sound differences

Im thinking of making a switch to 4" from 3", but I am wondering how different it will sound.

To be perfectly honest, the sound of the 3" drives me crazy. I hate it, i think it sounds like a gas motor. I guess i am too used to Power strokes. anybody made the switch, or heard both?

I expect the 4" will be deeper sound, but will it be much different?

I have a 3.5 inch and it still sounds like a big block when you stand on it, i'm planning on going bigger as well proably 5 inch. I bet with a 4 you will still get a rap when you get on it.

i don't mind what it sounds like upon acceleration, i just hate the fact that it sounds like a gas motor when slowing down using my gears. drives me nuts. actually it sounds like a gas motor all the way around if you ask me. oh well.

it will be the same way withthe 4inch exhaust but a little deeper and louder. I had streight 2.5 inch pipe on my truck before i installed the 4inch pipe whole way back and it sounded the same just a little deeper and louder. it expecially sounds liek a 460 when you downshift... same when you tromp on it it sounds like a 460. the only time my truck sounded like a diesel was when my timing was to far advanced then it sounded like a stroke but that wasn't healthy for the motor being so far advanced.
