flatbed questions

I just about have my flatbed ready to set on the truck. I have a headach rack on the bed as well, and I'm wondering how close to the cab? I'm thinking 1 1/2 inches. I would like it as close, but safe as possible.

2nd.... I'm looking for good mounting ideas for the gas filler necks. Would love to see pics if ya gottem!!

Flat bed, 78" F-350

Just finished building mine and the bed is 1-1/2" from the flat surface below the rear window (factory specs).
I built the new bed to the exact specs of the original Ford stake except that I used channel iron for the frame members and diamond plate for the deck rather than a wood deck. Using the frame as a template, I scribed 2" x 6" x 1/4" angle iron to the contour of the frame and used the original straps to bolt it to the frame. Cutting the opening for the filler hose and bringing it out in the original location, my only mod to the filler hose was to lengthen it more towards the rear to clear my undermount tool bos). Turned out real nice.
Problem is, I don't know how to put pics on the site, but I'll work on it.
Do a search on flat beds, there are several recent ones including mine with the specs.
Good Luck, HoBo
