Lifting a '64 2wd P/U
I am wanting to lift my truck using lift blocks. I am wanting to do a 2 or 3 inch lift but I am concerned about some affects it may have on my drive shaft and transmission linkage. If you've done this before, can you give me heads up on what to expect with regards to driveshaft, transmission linkage, brake lines, or any other area. I've looked at this for quite some time now, but I am not wanting to make the purchase of the lift blocks and then find out that I undertook something that I can complete. I have read many of the messages on this board regarding re-arching of leaf springs. I don't want to go that route. The lift blocks are a more practical avenue in my case. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I live in the Houston,TX and my truck is in South Texas. I plan to use it for deer, quail and morning dove hunting in the San Antonio area. A few inches up will help put in some taller tires and allow me and my son to get into brush country.
All help is appreciated,
Thanks, Robert
Back in the late 1980's the 4X4 magazines stopped featuring any trucks that used lift blocks on the front even if the truck was just a non-driven show truck because they felt that blocks on the front were that dangerous.
Good Luck,
Matt
Thanks for the response. So I guess that my other option would be to use additional leaf springs on the front and perhaps use the lift blocks on the rear? I mean, use the same amount of lift of leaf springs on the front that I will use on the rear axle? Is this a safer option than going lift blocks on the front?
Robert
