I swaped out my rear tank with a new one and now when I switch to my rear tank the fuel guage goes way over full and the change fuel filter light comes on? Help me out.
What tank did you install, was it for the same year diesel......or a gasser. Were the lines hard to install..... sounds like the inlet line is on the return which has a check valve and will cause a vacuum and set of the restricted filter light comes on. wires may be crossed too..........
I changed the rear tank, it was the same as the one we took out, everything installed easy, had the box off to install a gooseneck hitch so everything was really easy to get at. I will recheck the connections. thanks
Sound like you are grounding out on both the sending unit signal wire and the fuel filter wires.
Typically the fuel guage will pin all the way to the right if the signal wire is grounded out (shorted) somehow.
Same is true for the warning lights; they will come on if the sending unit circuit detects a ground connection.
My "Water in Fuel" light kept coming on intermittently for a minute or two at a time, the only problem was that I removed the water sensor along with the fuel filter year ago when I installed the new Racor filter unit. The only explanation for the warning light is a short to ground in the wiring.
Seb.....
