I'm in the same boat. Exhaust is mangled (leaking think at the manifold, one cat missing, 2" pipe welded into the 2 1/4", crap muffler and short pipe that doesn't even make it to the rear axel) basically need whole new deal. cost is more important than performance/sound. Any ideas (88 150 4x4)
"hedmens will fit, im running them. just be weary if u have AIR injection at the head"
How did you get them to fit well? I ordered them and was going to put them on with the camshaft, but the flange was a different thickness then the intake manifold so the bolts wouldn't hold down both the header and intake evenly. Is yous supported only by the three lower exhaust only bolts?
what they are concerned about is crossmemebr clearence and interference of the driveshaft (not applicable) and starter, etc...
quite honestly, i did reuse all the stock hardware but has one bolt left over (confirmed it wasnt used). everything went back together like clock work and all the stock hardware worked.
make sure u run a bolt in the rear most hole because the header will use that as a support in the notched end on the back of the header. i did run into this problem but figured out that notched hole was the key.
What do you guys think the difference would be between the header and the split EFI manifold? I would think that the header would give a bit better performance due to the fact it equals out the exhaust length, but when you look at the efi manifolds, they are not very big to start with. Any thoughts?
