1988 ford f150, 300 six, efi, 5 speed manual.
Starts fine when cold, but after first start I can only start it after jumping the solenoid. Next day starts fine. Has anyone got any ideas on this one.
thanks for any help you can give me
steve
Yes, jumping 3 to 5 starts it. I combed your forums afte I posted and according to your other replys that means neutral safety switch or ignition switch??
thanks a lot i apprecriate the help
steve
Ford recalled this truck for an ignition switch problem. So I took it to the dealer and they replaced the ignition switch. Shortly thereafter i started having the problem with the "no hot restart" described above. I never associated the problem with the ignition switch and have been putting up with it and changing (suspecting other problems) solenoids. Here is on link http://www.automallusa.net/1988/ford/f-150/recalls.html
I took it in after 2000 though and then just stored the truck for a while (3 years)
anyways maybe this will help someone else. this has been a big help. thanks again
steve
