The dealer where I bought my 04 F250 6.0 sent a letter wanting to buy back my truck..No problem say they need them for "used truck sales". Mine has 22,800 miles and no problems to speak of. No drips, no bad injectors, no turbo probs, just the recalls.
Says they will give market value for the truck. I asked. Wants to see it becasue of the bucket seats, and low miles.
My possible reason for trading is "paranoia". I've been on this site for over 2 years and can hardly sleep over wondering when this trucks going to quit. Kelly blue book is $34k retail. If that's what they will give me on a new F-150 (all I really need) with all the incentives I should get money in my hand...
I've read the F-150 list and the have problems but not anywhere near what's here.....I write back my decision next week. Going in Saturday to meet with the sales manager.................
Don't get your hopes up too high, I think you will be disappointed in what they consider market value. If they give you that much, it will likely be against 'sticker' price on a new one.
I would guess $28K in real dollar trade value against real world market price (not sticker) on a new one.
Real market value is between wholesale and retail for your truck. I had an 04 fully loaded Lariet with 15,000 miles on it. And the wholesale was $22,875.00 and retail was $33,867.00 I recieved $27,750.00 on trade. Fair market value. They will give you $34,000.00 on trade if you pay sticker on your new vehicle. Which would be retail to retail.
i am battleing with ford now on the trade in price they want to give me.
i am trying to get into the 2006 they have sitting there for $35k. but right now they will only give me $25,500 for my truck, a 2004. so i told them this morning if they give me $27k for it, its a deal. so far no fone call!
funny thing is they have another 2004 on the lot for $31,500.
Don't All, worry I didn't have my hopes up at all. Just wanted to see what the letter was all about..
Wasted only 30 minutes and was entertained by a little blonde "hottie" while they figgured out how to get my truck cheap (that's good for a 62 year old anytime)..
Wildcat was real close. Offered $23,256 on my Red XLT, CC, SWB, King Ranch Badges, Tonneau, Centerline Auto Drag wheels, Gibson Duals. Resale is 34K..
I just smiled didn't say much. Said since it doesn't eat any "hay" I'll keep it arround and keep on servicing it and adding Stanadyne in every tank...Maybe I'l just quit reading this site that might help with the paranoia...:<) Good Luck
If you take everything negative said or printed about these trucks, you'll drive yourself nuts! Nearly 30 thousand miles on my truck, nary a problem except for the rocker carrier seal (replaced under warranty) Everyone that sees or rides in my truck has nothing but good impressions about it. I love my 2005 F-250 Lariat Crew Cab.
Just remember most come here looking for a solution. It's the same as a person that getting terrible service while out to eat. They will come back and tell all their friends and family how terrible it was. But when they get edxcellent service they tell nobody. I don't know why people tend to do this but we do. Ask yourself when the last time you mentioned more good things than negative to family and friends.
