Injector removal

Could someone tell me what steps to take to remove and reinstal all the injectors on my 4.9 1990? Does the intake have to come off? Any help appreciated.
Thanks Frank

Unless your VERY adept with your manual dexterity in small tight places, then yes the upper intake needs to be removed to get access to the injectors. De-pressurize the fuel rail. Then you can pull the fuel rail and then the injectors.

For detailed steps, I'd suggest getting a good manual.

why do u need to remove the injectors?

its really simple to remove the intake, throttle body and accosiated items. u need a 9/16th socket (deep) and a ratcheting wrench (same size) is a plus for the intake. the intake is in two halves and u just remove the upper part. be careful with the gasket between the upper and lower.

Thinking about pulling the injectors for a professional rebuild and flow test.
