I have a 79' F-100 2wd I was wonder what my options were for front suspension. Im wanting to lower the truck not slam it. Has anyone ever done a rear axle flip on a truck like this and if so how much did it drop and did you have to notch the frame or was there enough clearnce. What did you or do you do for the front?
I'm sure someone sells drop coil springs, but you might get into a bind with the I-beam suspension. It doesn't like lifts or drops, b/c it is designed to be like it is. Now if you heat up the I beam to bright red and bend it just right, then you'd be ok.
If you don't do this, your tires will ride like this /---\ (causeing uneven tire wear, and makeing your alinement off alittle).
This all depends how much you drop it now, you might be able to get by with 2"s or so.
For the rear you could swap the leafs to the bottom, and lower it a good 2-4"s and I don't think you have to notch the frame any.
Or you could just take a leaf out of the pack.
