Hey guys, so heres my question, i pulled a chip out of a 2003 f-350 sd, with a 7.3l, it is a type that goes in the back of the pcm, and has a ****. the **** has 11 clicks, im sure it dosent use them all, but my question is, was there alot of manufacturers of this type?, is there any way to tell who made it, so i can get info on it?, and will it work in a 2000 with a 7.3. thanks guys im hoping to get this resolved, so i can install it.
~jeremy.
Unless the maker is pirinted on the back or front of the chip I'm not sure how you will know who made it. So many people are getting the same chips these days and putting they're programs on them. Any kind of chip that piggybacks or plugs into the pcm will have to match the computer code. So if you can't find out who makes it you can probably get anybody like Dp-tuner or Ts to reprogram it to your code.
It's probably a TS chip. They make most of the chips (the actual hardware) that are of that type, like Lance said. I'd call DP Tuner to see if they can program it for you. Unless there is someone's sticker on the chip, then you're limited to using them to reprogram it, due to a gentleman's agreement among the different programmers.
ok so you guys dont think it would just work huh. darn. dose any one have any phone numbers or websites, i guess ill have to lok around after, give em a call and see what they think of it. thanks guys.
ok i checked out the sites, it looks identical to the ts chip, so ill call them first and see if it can go from 03 to 00,
thanks again
i hope this works out,
I would call DP Tuner first. They used to sell the chips that look like the TS chips. But, the programming from DP Tuner is IMO much better, coming from what I hear from the guys who have switched from TS to DP. I have DP tuner myself and wouldn't trade it for anything.
I have a TS chip and can say they are pretty much what DP was using. You can go DP or TS as far as that goes. Most here will tell you DP. I would think there's a reason for that. Listen or learn.
