found 96 crwon vic police interceptor (love that title: police interceptor)
4.6, 210/270,9:1, SOHC, 150, 000 miles.
Know that the bell housings share the same bolt pattern.
Don't know much else except its going in my truck!
What obstacles are in my way?
clutch set up, flywheel, motor mounts, those seem easy to by pass, the head scratchers are things like oil pan, etc.
I think you're in for a LOT of custom work. The 4.6L is going to be OBD-II, so you're going to have a wiring nightmare on your hands to get it into your truck. Also, motor mounts & perches are going to be custom made or special ordered from someplace like L&L.
I am not 100% sure the bellhousings will match - I thought I remembered reading that they are different, but I have no direct experience with the 4.6L.
Honestly, not to discourage you, but I'd be looking for a path with a little less resistance. Like swapping in a 351 or a 460 with the correct trans.
as far as the wiring goes, as long as I change the brain and complete harness, could even grab the Vickies gauge cluster if I felt it were necessary, wouldn't that give me the wiring for the OBDII and then no splicing?
unless the vicky has a speedo feed back into the ECM and then I would have figure out resistors/relays/splicing/sumthing for it.
Lots of guys that have done the TBI GM swap into their Jeep have figured out ways to handle that.
