Tires?

I remember a while back there was a long posting on the tire situation. I have a 2004 with 27 k miles on it and my tires are cracking. Does anyone have the special number to call about his. I seem to think I there was a letter from FORD posted on this?

I looked at the TSB's and didnt find anything on the tires. You might want to try a search on the forum. I have been Lucky with my Generals so far..27K on them with no probs but I do rotate them every Oil change. However with that said I will be replacing them by 35k if not sooner.

I think there was that one on the General/Continental Tires Cupping...

Yours are cracking? Like running out of Moisture... Cracking?

I am not sure the difference. Where the sidewall meets the tread it is cracking on all 4 tires?

The Cupping is more like a... Inconsistancy-bulge(?)/scuffing along the tread face.

If yours is cracking.
It sounds like someone has been using some sort of "protectant" (various types) along the tire wall. But I couldn't imagine that it has started that early...

Edit: It looks to be under warranty still... I'd take it on in to see what the dealer says...

I know there is one for Continentals. I had my tires replaced, under warranty, because of vibration and un-even wear.

I've received a notice for my BFG's on my 4x4 lariat, sonething about cupping/irregualr ride. I wonder why? it's a passager car tire on a heavy truck? I still cant figure that one out. I changed them out to the good year ATS tires and have no issues.

I've got an '04 SCREW Lariat that I bouhgt pre-owned from a guy and now I'm wondering if this would apply to me. It still has at least 1 yr or 9K under the 3yr/36K original left. Does this mean I can take it to a dealership for the vibrations and get some new tires?

Maybe. They will want to do the Force Balance deal on the tires. What brand are your tires?

Well..........I did not have the cracking issue, I did however have the vibration and the bad cupping on the tires. The dealer would only do an alignment and balance the tires though. They would not do anything as far as replacing them though. If someone could help me with getting some information on trying to force their hand on this issue, I would appreciate it. I have about 52,500 miles on my truck now. However this is an issue that has been going on since it was new. Any recomendations ?

I think you're well over the mileage limit for the tires and outside of the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty. Check you tire warranty. I know they will replace the Continentals for vib and un-even wear and the warranty on these tires have been extended. But as for other brands, I don't know.

Yeah.......I know I was over on the mileage. I was just wondering, if because I have had the problem since the beginning, if there was something that could be done now. I guess I am just S.O.L. on that huh ?
