What do i do?
I just got a 01 excursion 4x4. The exaust has been kind of upgraded to 4inch. But the 4inch part starts a bout 4 feet from the manifold. Is that even helpful? Also what is the best way to increase MPH and power. I have been looking at the different chips and have absolutly no clue. Every suggestion would be welcomed. Thanks.

You cannot get more power and use less fuel. There is a small window where you can make the engine use the fuel it gets more efficiently but don't look for huge gains on either side.
Hard to tell what you're talking about without pics.
Is this just a hacked up exhaust that the previous owner did or does it look like and aftermarket exhaust that was installed?

Here is the picture of the weld. It looks to me like they did a good job. Im confused by the power gas milage comment? Isnt that what the chips are supposed to do is increase power and gas mileage? I mean as long as i keep the pedal off the floor board.

left to right, or small to big. Too me it looks like the previous owner loved this truck. I guess my main question is did they do it for show or is it actually functional to start the 4 inch exaust that far from the manifold? I am completly ignorant of diesel tech other then i know they get better gas mileage then a gas engine, the y last longer, and are more powerful. So now i am in the stage of ask as many questions and learn as much as possible stage of this vehicle.
