Meguiar's NXT paste.........GOOD GRIEF !!!!
THIS IS THE MOST AWESOME PRODUCT THAT I HAVE EVER USED!!!!!
WOW! Never seen a shine like this before.
Anybody used this stuff? I can't say enough about the shine.
I had the opportunity to hit it with the spray Quick Detail and that stuff was amazing too! looked like I had just waxed it again!

Bear in mind that NXT is a cleaner-wax, two coats will not really equal two coats as one will wipe off the other. It will provide more thorough coverage. NXT is very shiney, due to a high silicone content. Awhile ago I looked at the MSDS and it was as much as 10% silicone. The only problem is that silicones do not last long and do nothing for protection.

You really should school them on Zaino. I thought NXT was the greatest wax in the world, but then Matt PM'ed me about it and now I'm a Zaino convert.

Now......if it isn't staying on the paint and protecting it, then why is there still a great shine and why was it so easy to clean up?
Thanks again for the info, but for now I'll stick with the NXT.
BTW.....Looked at your Excursion. Great looking truck.
Since it is a polymer blend it could have Silicone Polymers included but I just checked the MSDS and found no listing for Silicones. Still Silicone polymers cure and stay on the surface. Problems arise with inert Silicone oils (Polydimethylsilicone) which never dry and can penetrate paint to the metal creating an unbondable surface.
Silicone polymers are safe unlike Silicone oils. It will remove swirl marks but is not intended as a Cleaner Wax.
NXT? I think it's awesome as well. Protect with Tech Wax (G12718) and boost it regularly with NXT Spray Wax. See them at my website
Dr Detail...in my post, there is a link to the MSDS...it clearly lists the silicone content. Polysiloxane is what you are looking for...2-10%.
FWIW, I avoid silicones when at all possible. I won;t even get into the whole silicones debate here..it's just not worth the effort. I have gone around on this so many times on other websites. I know that I am not going to change anyone's mind.
I will say that a couple years ago I remember all too well Meguairs selling samples of this incredible new wax as "Lab Sample D" (if memory serves) on the web. They promised that it would contain no silicones or abrasives. After the product was released, I commented on a detailing website that it did include both of the aforementioned items. A Meg's employee downdressed me, but later wrote that he had been misled by others at Meguiars and that indeed both ingredients were present.
I thought wax was what you sprayed on at the self serve car wash along with the multi-colored clear coat protector.
Hand wash at home, spray on the wax at the car wash. Shines good, for a day or two.
I must really be lazy.
I see you're absolutely right about the MSDS that you have a link to showing Silicone at 2-10%. I also noticed that it is dated 8-14-2002. The product was introduced in Feb. 2004 so the MSDS is old and possibly for a beta test formula.
If you check the current MSDS, dated 10-15-2004, you will find that it now lists only two items in the hazardous section.
Calcined Kaolin Clay
Isoparaffinic Hydrocarbons
My only conclusion is that they reformulated the Silicone out before introduction to the market. I'm not trying to be argumentative but I never saw the old MSDS that you referred to until your link. Thanx.
MSDS sheets only need to contain ingredients that are hazardous in use, so I am guessing that they omited them from the sheet.
I know that a Meguiars Rep admitted on several detailing sites that NXT did contain mild abrasives and silicones. In the beginning, they said that it did not...but later said the chemists told him it did.
