Gentlemen........I have a 96 f250 powerstroke that had a coolant leak dripping onto the oil filter........to make a long story short after 3 times at the dealer.....they said it was block porocity at the engine boss where the oil filter housing is........(at the rear oil cooler head).....I was told the only fix was block sealer as a last resort....which they did........now I find the following recall bulletin:
03-21-28 Cooling system, coolant leak at rear oil cooler head, vehicles with 7.3 DIT engine- vehicles built from 9-1-95 thru 10-31-95. Mine was made 11-95.
The only way to fix is to have the Navistar folks out to complete the repair.
My question do you thing the recall is still good.......it was issued 10-06-03. if it is........shouldn't the ford dealer have known about this and taken care of it when I had it in..........should they now honor the recall and what about the block sealer they put in......by the way it still leaks.......Comments....remedy
Recalls usually only apply to the original owner. If that's you, there is a fighting chance you can get some remedy. Be prepared to fight the dealership and "Ford" too.
Research the internet for you particular problem. Then Start by Make your complaints to the service department. Bring the recall with you. Get everything in writing.
If you kept your receipts (and you should) from the dealer "repairs" that show the date is during the recall period and you're the original owner, I don't see how they can deny they did an improper repair.
Take your receipts, the recall, and anything else you have to document what they did to the Service Department Manager. Request they make good on the recall.
Don't be accusatory or beligerant with them when you talk with the Service Manager. If he/she doesn't, or won't, make good on the repair, it's time to get serious and make an official complaint against the dealership with the BBB and Ford Corporation.
