Bench seat

Hey guys,
I just bought a bench off ebay, and I noticed theres a gap between the backrest and the bottom part. It's out of a 52. Did they come like this, or do you think maybe the guy who reupholstered it just pulled it too tight, or didnt use as much padding?

My '56 has always had an inch or so gap between the back and the seat. I suspect it's to facilitate clearance when the seat is flipped forward.

I've never seen the gap on an F1 bench, allthough the guy said hes seen them both ways...who knows...

My truck's seat was more or less original when I got it, and there was no gap.

for what it's worth.

I imagine if you have the adjustment 'bolts' all the way in it might open things up.

My 51F1 seat has adjusting bolts on the bottom seat part to adjust the position of the back part of the seat. The farther forward you adjust it the more gap there is.
