Rear brake Problems!
I have a '64 ford that i'm doing up. At this point i'm redoing the rear brakes on the old girl. Bought all new hardware, drum shoes and drum, all specific to the '64. Put everything on and then i go to put the drum on and there's a 1/2" gap between drum and backingplate. So i was like, WTF? Anways, went to the Napa store, bought drums for a '74 f100 to see how they would fit. Fit like a charm! NO gap at all! Then i popped the tire back on and try to give it a spin with the wheel in the air and it was tight like if the brakes were seized on! So i'm a bit of a lost! I'm thinking it's a backing plate issue but not too sure the differences in backing plates thru the years. Any help?
