I have a strange problem with my 94' F150 with the 351w and Auto 4x4. When it gets hot outside it shifts hard now i have replaced most sensors that would affect the shifting of it inculding the speed sensor in the rear end but it still will shift funny but only when its hot outside like 90+ (not when the engine gets hot).
Please be more specific; are you towing/hauling heavy loads or is this under normal driving conditions?
Is this a repeat problem or something that happens "once in a while", and when it happens, what were/are the conditions?
When an electronic transmission goes into limp mode (as your seems to be doing) it will shift hard and flash the OD OFF light, that is unless your OD OFF light is not working properly. It can be somewhat challenging to diagnose a trans problem (like pulling codes) because the faults usually reset themselves as soon as the key is cycled off and on.

There are no lights and the only computer code with my snap on tester is open rear speed sensor. It seems to be random as far as when it starts shifting hard. but it will only do it when its hot outside.
I just remberd when i tried to run the same test with my Innova Ford ODB I tester it refuse to test giving me a few codes 10, 412, 116, 411, 538, 536, 632 i havnt had time to look all of them up but it one says it cant run test because it cant control RPM during KOER RPM check
The speed sensor/pickup, in the rear end, is what helps dictate shifts and converter lock schedules, and a faulty feedback from that sensor can cause problems. It can also cause the speedo to be irractic too;i It wouldn't hurt to pull and clean it though.
