Ah ticking noise. Jesuss Chri49! Fuc( me a running!

It is a Ford F150 Runn the living crap outta it! Then you will wonder, Jeez will this truck ever break! Yes at about 300,000 miles.

I am so sick of limp wristed folks bashing something they have never tested or tried out for what it was meant to be!!
These big Ford trucks are beasts. They are not daily drivers. They are meant to tow, or be off road, or be sport trucks

Anyone buying one for any other reason has to just suck up the mpg thing.
GEEZ!

The ticking is the 3V doing its thing let it be!

Drive your truck!

The 06 model year includes the trucks built during the plant shut downs in which ford tried to capture all the defective tranny parts before they made it to the streets. Did they get all of them? Only time will tell. But consider this. How did they know the parts were defective in the first place? Don't try to tell me ford QC department found them, they wouldn't catch a flaming ford even if it drove off the line on fire. I think they found out they were having problems by regular customers having their transmissions come apart on the road. Ford then backtracked to find the source of the problem which finally had them shutting down f150 lines to try to gather up all the defective transmission parts. At least they tried to do the right thing. Now hopefully they will do the same to any customers that have tranny issues in the future.

Is this tranny parts in both the 5.4 and 4.6 models, or just one of the two? I have a 2006 4.6 two different trannys. Thanks

Check out blue oval forums, they have the article there. It doesn't go into specifics only that production resumed on April 28, 2006. The plants affected were Dearborn, Michigan, Norfolk, Ohio, Wixon, Kansas City, and Cuautitlan. Also it wasn't just trucks, but rear wheel drive cars too.

Haha...angry much?

jdhakert, mine is a daily driver(06 Scab 4X4, 4.6, Auto, 3.55 Non-LS, 9400miles) and mine is in the dealer right now getting the brakes done for the 2nd time. All of the rotors were warped the first time. I expect that again. And no, I don't run through standing water. Only been driven in the rain and washed when wheels are cold. I say crap rotors/calipers? to start with.

My engine shudders when idling (supposedly normal, except a friend's at work you can barely tell it's running) and is a dog. I should have got the 5.4. Then I could have the 3v ticking. I've read posts about noisy injectors also.

I also think the 97-03 body style rode better in windy conditions. My 2000 F-150 seemed to cut through the wind much better.

Other than some small issues, it is a pretty nice truck.

I get 17+ MPG, combined driving.

Limp wristed, bashing folks? Too funny... This should help>>>>

I have had no major issues with my 2004 Screw except a slight viberation (fixed after they ballanced the tires) and replacement of the front brakes and the dealer did this no questions asked. As far as any rattles, noises ect nothing.

Well I've been through the ringer on two 04's 4x4 SC lariat's (one going to arbitration, and I won). The new 06 I have has been a dream compared to the earlier models. I've got about 10k on it and no issues at all. At 10k on the 04's i was on my third set of rotors and pads!.

Only had my 06 for a couple of weeks, but I have to say that it is a better truck than the 04 and I really liked the 04. That bit of annoying vibration at around 30 to 40 mph is gone. The only thing is that the 06 might not be quite as quiet as the 04. One bit of information that may or may not be correct is that to keep costs down the 05's and 06's don't have as much sound-deadening material. Noise is such a subjective thing it's hard to verify.

My 04 may have had a bit of the cam phaser noise as well. It was merely annoying and never caused any noticeable problem. The 06 does seem quieter on that side of the engine(ie. passenger side).

As I recall the 04 was built in May 0f 04 and this one in May of 06.
