I honestly think these supposed gains are vastly overstated, especially with the newer cats. IMHO, any gains in mileage and/or power are wholly insignificant compared to the environmental benefits of having a cat. If you want to gain whatever small benefit may exist, consider a hi-flo cat. I've had my cat off for about a year now and have noticed absolutely nothing above what gains I get from my hi-flo mufflers/true dual exhaust set up. I am putting on a hi-flo cat later this week. It is a dynomax super cat, dual-in/dual-out. Although others may disagree, I have yet to see any hard data to support a noticable power/mileage gain from just removing cats. Not to mention that it is a federal offense to remove a factory installed cat. That's just my $.02 for what it's worth.
Hi Mike,
Thanks. You are right. I have a service body with topper amd pull a 26ft. trailer.
Maxed out at near 18,000 lbs. 8.5 mpg. pulling or not so was wondering. Runs good. Just too much weight for high elevations.
I wonder if 'high flow' cat is a phony sales pitch?
