my 1966has a352& 3speed man. column shifter. i can get a complete doner truck for the power steering conversion i`m not shure what year would work best. idid want to do the disc brake conv. at the same time, power booster to if possible. iwould like to get it all from the same doner truck. have acsess to several diff.years.thanks for your help
I used the complete front end (I-Beams,spindles,springs,rotors,and the calipers out from underneath a 1978 F-150) on my 65 F-100 and just unbolted the original parts, that is remove the nut from the back of the radius arm, romove the top shock nut, the upper spring clamps and the bolt that goes through the pivot end of the I-beam, then just remove it all from the truck as an assembly. If you get a donor truck you will need to get the steering column out of it as well, and you will need to remove the bracket from your 66 model column to use on the later moddel as it is the only one that will mate up to your 66 dash also you will need the adapter bracket that fits between the booster and the firewall or your booster wont clear the left valve cover, you should also get the master cylinder and brake proportioning valve. I know that there is probably something that I've left out, but the other guys on the site will let you know if I have, they are really a pretty friendly and helpful bunch of people. There is also a very good article listed on this subject on this site if you will do a searchon it. Above all BE SAFE in every thing you do, dont take chances with you life.
All that 427SC says. Excellent advice. I would add back up light and neutral start switch. Core everything you can, calipers, booster, master cylinder, gear box. Buy new brake lines, brake hoses, tie rods, king pins, rag joint and rubber bushings on the I Beams and radius arms. I prefer the old cast radius arms. Install a set of gas shocks and coil springs from www.eatonsprings.com. Have a machine shop press out the old king pins and ream the replacement bushings. I like the master cylinder with the lines exiting out the left side (looks nicer). Use the step bracket found on trucks with V8 engines for mounting the booster. You can mix and match the brake pedal arm to get one that has the correct brake pedal ratio and the wide pedal. Get all this stuff cleaned and painted before you take your truck off the road. There is more you will have to post back.
