We just got back from camping and man it was hot. We were at Nicle Lake just south of Weyburn and it was so hot yesterday we went to Walmart to cool off.
Did a trip to Turtleford to get shelves and molds for the wifes shop. Got home about 6. The heat killed us dismantling the shelves outdoors. Nightime pretty exhausted. Did not unload truck til 9 this morning. Even then it was too hot for today. Tomorrow work in a air condition building that will help.
Yeah no kidding it was hot today thank god for an air conditioned house and i was outside vaccuming out my parents van and i kept sweating so much it was crazy then it start dripping down my nose and stuff cuz i was kneeling then i cut the lawn tonight and it was still hot and humid..
I dug in the deep sewer and storm water mains for a walmart in kindersley the last two week's, it has been a scorcher, I drove bobcat most of the day so I was out of the sun, but the guys leveling the sand and running the tampers were all Sweating pretty good. I checked out the oh&s book, and it stated for 20-22 degrees, 15 min break per hour of work, 23-25 30 min break per 30 min work, 26-30 15 min work, 45 min rest per hour. I did keep that one quiet, and picked up a cooler of ice water and the guys worked right through with no complaints... If they only knew.
Man that rate nothing would get done. I can see that if the temps were in the Hi 30's. That would be very costly to the employers. Yeah I think I would of kept shut on that one too. Many a time I just work right through, but to bed early for I'm wiped out.
Spreading gravel is a hard job, I used to hate bustin tires when it was hot like this too. Get a set of 8 drives and do em all by bar out in this heat and thats enough to make ya wanna become an electrician
Hmm. And I'm just the opposite. After sitting at this desk for the past 9 years I'm ready to quit and go do some manual labour outside. The office isn't for me anymore.
I am behind a desk all day to but, most days I would rather be outside even when it is +30 or -30. I am with plscotts I am not a desk person that's for sure. I started out as a temp fill in while someone was sick and did such a good job they kept me here and hired someone else to do my job. Next time I will be more carefull.
Im in my early 30's and my knees are trashed from to much "manual labour". Im looking for a desk job within the next 5-10years. If not Ill be crippled up when I get 50-60ish for sure. For $10 per hour Ill take you office guys and put you on a shovel here in town. I would guess that at rate you will be lining up for the job.
