My 83 F-150s tach has quit working. I've replaced the coil, duraspark II box and a few other odds & ends hoping that it would start working again but still its not working.
I've bought another tach module to replace the one thats in the dash now, as a last resort to see if i can get the tach working again. Is there anything else i can check/do to see before i swap tachs?
Check the wire connections of the Dark Green/yellow wire, on the left fender skirt.
There should be two connectors for this wire located there on the fender skirt. One end comes from the coil, to the first connector, from this connector, two wires will be splitting from it, one to the duraspark, the other goes toward the second connector and your tach.
Check to see if these connections are not compromised.
my factory tach died and i ended up having to replace the tach itself. called the junk yard got a used instrument cluster and switched it out, been great since, cost me 70 dollars.
