Tow Command Connection

Planning on purchasing a 5th Wheel. Will there be any problem with the length of the 5th Wheel electrical/brake cord reaching the Tow Command receptical beneath the tailgate?

Thanks
Lenny

Depends on the length of the cord supplied by the trailer manufacturer. I have a 34' Alpenlite. The cord would reach the factory plug below the bumper, but would stretch the cord on tight right turns. If the cord was threaded thru (vented tailgate) or under (tight on stock tailgate) it would work. I just mounted a new receptical (actually an extension w/6' of cord) on the left rear inside sidewall and ran the wiring down thru the left rear stake pocket and plugged into the factory receptical. Works great and the extension plug rides behind the factory receptical while not in use.

Thank you CF. Could you give me a reference on the extension (where to purchase)? I searched online but couldn't find an extension for the Tow Command. Six ft extension would be great. Many thanks for the reply

It is a standard 7 prong RV connection wiring extension. TOW Command is just Ford's name for your trailer brake controller.
