One reviewer mentions Aerostars are still being manufactured in Mexico. Is this true? Were there other assembly plants worldwide? (I know, let's ask Pablo where his was assembled.)
Man, these idiots are loosers. Some of them had their heads on staight, but it is obvious that most of them can't appreciate its prime feature, RWD. Sure the Astro has it, but the Astro is not a minivan. According to GM, it is a compact full size van. Also, the Aerostar can beat the longevity of an Astro without question. A good Astro is equal to an Average Aerostar, and a typical Astro is equal to an Aerostar lemon. Granted the design is not perfect, but nothing really is. The A4LD is a very exceptionally durable transmission once you understand how it works. WE just had ours serviced for maintenance. We moved the converter away from the modulator when we had the exhaust system redesigned. That takes care of that problem. Then we just had the fluid and filter replaced, and the modulator just to be safe (will not need to do again unless it fails). We will do this again in maybe two or three years. Just that simple, complete fluid flush and filter replacement, every 30,000 or so, more often if we know we are driveing it hard. May eventually install a tranny temp sender.
