Another Door Lock Problem
I recently purchased a 2000 F250 PSD and the passenger door lock does something strange. As you attempt to open the door from from outside, the **** on the door will fall down and lock itself. The truck has electric locks, but I have pulled the **** up manually, checking to be sure it is all the way up. The only way to get in the door ifrom the outside is to hold down on the "unlock" button while someone opens the door.

It sounds like one of the rods connecting **** and the outside handle are binding somehow.
Your going to have to remove the door panel and take a look in there.
Its very tight spaced in that area dirt and crap get caught in the latch
