Patch Panels

Ok. I my B2 has rust problems but I'm getting there. I currently have some sheet aluminum riveted over the quarer panels in front of both rear wheels and painted to pretty close match the paint. Not real bad but the rivets look like crap. I'm toying with the idea of buying some peplacement panels skins for these locations for Raybucks and apply them using one of the new adhesives like the one 3M makes for door skins. Has anyone done this, and if so, how did it work out? I'm thinking it should look like the gaurd pieces you can purchase for Jeeps that help protect body areas.
Also, has anyone repaired the body sections at the rear quarters at the sides when you open the liftgate? I have some rust there and it's getting to not look very good.

well I can't speak for the patch panels, but the glues that 3m makes are about as close to a weld as you can get. The body shops use them, and they are still considered a correct repair for attaching body panels. I've seen the guys on Trucks TV use them, and they did the work to where you couldn't see they did anything.
