91 con van misfiring bad
Hi My 91 E150 is misfiring bad,backfiring and has no power if you try to give it the gas. but at idle its running good. Also the OD is not working this all started at the same time I am thinking its the brain again had to replace it about 2 years ago for a smilar thing anyone have some info called rebilt brain is 100 bucks but I think its the problem.

It's more likely that it got buried, don't give up so easily. It sounds like the ICM on the distributor to me. When were the plugs and wires changed last? If it's been over ~50k miles ago then they're due again, also make sure that you use the napa premium, the high dollar carquest or dealer ignition parts for the cap, rotor, ICM, and wires. The plugs are just standard motorcraft which you can get almost anywhere. Advance has a high dollar line too, the key here is that you get what you pay for, all these stores I mentioned sell parts made by STANDARD which are the same ones that came on the vehicle. There isn't a better solution, or it would have been installed at the factory. I'd also replace the fuel filter, and air filter while I was in there.

did replace the fuel filter new plugs and airfilter as well. But like I said it starts and idles good just backfires bad if you try to drive it and has no power and the overdrive button does not work all has happened at the same time last time the over drive button stoped working the main control unit was not working right so bought a rebult one and was good tell now so I am thinking its that unit again as its almost the same thing as last time again happening. thanks for the help on this and I hope this might help someone else with this kind of problem. will update after I get a new control unit for It.
