2000 XLT oil pan replacement question
Does anyone have any advice on replacing an oil pan on a 2000 5.4L 4X4 Expedition? My husband is fairly mechanically inclined but my brother in law said he may need to remove a motor mount to get the clearance he needs to get the pan out.
Also, is there 1 standard oil pan for this truck? I ordered a replacement and although it matches the diagrams I've seen for this truck, my husband thinks the one on there already is different. The replacement has a deeper well and the drain plug is on the side- the one currently on the truck has the drain plug on the bottom. Our Expedition is equiped with oil, battery and transmission heaters- we lived in Alaska for 4 years- could this have something to do with the difference?
