Radiators - 3-pass vs. 4-pass
While coming home from CO, going through AZ and NM, I noticed that the engine was running hotter than it usually does (it was about 110-115 outside). Kept a steady 70 MPH, pulled a few hills, and the engine would heat (never more than 3/4 in white), but would cool quickly as we went downhill or level. We were pulling a "TAB" trailer (large teardrop-2400 lbs), and had the bed loaded with about 800-900 lbs max, so a total of 3200-3400 lbs total load. Has anyone swapped the stock 3-pass radiator out for a 4-pass? I have a '72 F-250 gasser that I did this to and the results were quite satisfactory. Is what I experienced normal? Also, has anyone had experience with the mister systems to help keep the radiator efficiency up?
