I have read this forum with great interest and came across some "stuff" I wasn't really aware of. My little '63 was bought with a 302 2bbl. I've wanted to change my standard 2bbl to a 4bbl. I was planning on Edelbrock 2121 Performer manifold and a 1406 600m elec choke carb. It is probably not necessary, but just wanted to do it. However, in reading responses of guys wanting to change from 2bbl to 4bbl, I noticed folks talking about proper cams etc. I have been told this 302 came out of a '76 Granada and had been rebuilt but have no idea how to verify such, so no nothing about what cam is in it. I am reasonably sure the engine is stock with maybe some honing out of cylinders. Question is, however, is is basically a little stupid to make the change without making a cam change. I didn't want to get any more involved than changing the carb and manifold as that is $ enough, but may not even do that if I would continue to have to add extras. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.JL:-X12
That carb and manifold will be just fine on a stock engine. Don't worry about having to add enything else unless you feel the need for more power. You may see an increase in fuel mileage if you can stay out of the secondaries. Good luck, Rich.
