Manual to auto help please

Hello i have been searching all morning for posts on this subject.
I swaped out a manual trans in my 79 f250 crew cab 4x4 and replaced with a auto trans from a identical truck my problem is i need my backup lights and how do i hook them up. My current configuration is two wire and the auto trans has 4 wires.I also replaced the steering column from the same truck.
Can you please help me

You need to find the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS). What tranny did you put in and what year is it from? the NSS could be mounted on the tranny or it may have been on the steering collumn depending on the years.

It is from a 79 crewcab 4x4 as well and so is the sterring column. It is a c6 transmission it has a four wire plug.

79 trucks had the NSS on the trans. The 4 wire configuration is for NSS, as well as the back-up lights. Simply use a meter to verify which set of contacts closes when you place the truck in rev. Then take one lead with 12VDC, to one side of the contact, and one wire to the back-up lights, and you will be in like Flynn.

Firgured it out. All 78-79 trucks came out with universal wiring harnesses
so i located the autotranmission plug it was above the blower for the heater pluged it in and eveything works. Thanks for the replies this site has some great people that really want to help.
