Fuel Pump/relay Problems
I Own A 1989 F-150 Four Wheel Drive It Has A 351,about A Month Ago It Started Having Problems,truck Stalled,i Found That Both Fuel Pumps Were Bad,the Low Pressure One In The Tank And The Hi-pressure One Along The Frame,i Didnt Find This Out Until I Installed A New Fuel Pump Relay,the Relay Burnt Up And Both Pumps Were Bad,i Replaced Both Pumps,relay,fuel Filter,and The Eec Power
Relay,truck Ran Great,however,this Week It Has Ate 2 Fuel Pump Relays,when I Turn The Key In The On Position I Dont Hear Pump In The Tank Kick In,then Other Times I Do,when I Do It Runs For A Bit Then Stops,seeing How Pump Does Kick In At Times In The Tank An Dit Is New(i Know This Doesnt Always Matter) I Kind Of Steer Away From This,why Does This Truck Keep Eating Fuel Pump Relays,i Cant Find A Bad Ground,inertia Switch Is Ok,im Wondering If Its Something In The Ignition Switch,this Truck Has Had 2 Different Steering Columns,the Pot Metal Ford Uses Behind These Switches Never Holds Up,i Have It Wired To A Push Button To Start Truck,turn Key In On Position And Push Button,push Button Runs To Solenoid,this Has Worked Fine For Years,fuel Pump Relay Grounds Through Ignition Switch,this Is Just A Thought,has Any One Ever Experienced Anything Like This,any Info Would Be Greatly Appreciated

you need to check your amp draw through the relay, check the initial amp spike on circuit startup, it may be spiking high. You can probably only see with with a amp clamp and graphing meter.
