they look cool. i just did the complete swap to the 2006 super duty front end to my 01 X. now it looks just like an 05. pretty easy too. got the headlights from ebay. brand new ford, in the box, $120.....
are you buying them for the black housing or for the LED's?
The LED's go out fast and often. So I would go with the smoked stock or upgrade to the 2005 front end. I doing the 2005 front end with the Harley davidson lights.
i have only found 1 company that has a dual beam hid kit. i am gonna go with them. as for your headlights, why dont you try ebay, i got stock lights for $120 for the pair, brand new in the ford boxes. and i got the 9007 to 9008 conversion kit for the bulbs from dppi. like $72 delivered.
what do I need to put the 06 lights on my 01. I dont really want to do the full conversion just the lights as I have an aftermarket push bar/bumper that I want to keep on it.
if you are handy with a dremmel, you have to cut some of the header panel to be able to fit the new housings in. they bolt to the holes in the top of the header using speed nuts and the bottom uses the original screws. i got my wiring harness from pure diesel power. it was like $70 delivered. all plug and play. as for the little side marker bulbs, go and get a generic ford 194 bulb socket from pep boys or somewhere and cut the plug off the factory harness. the 01 has a 90 degree socket and you need a straight socket to be able to fit. thats it to change the headlights. i didn't even have to aim mine. they were set from ford and they are perfect. the parking light is the same, headlight is 9008 or h13 and the side marker is 194.

awe, to bad. because if it wasn't right up to the bottom of the grill, you could have done the grill too. you know that there is a company on ebay that takes a brand new factory ford grill and cuts the bottom to match the contour of the older style bumper. thats what i would do if i were you.
