I am trying to install a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 Stereo W/ navigation in my 2006 F-350 Truck with the 6.0 powerstroke diesel.
My question, there is a speed sensing cable on the navigation system that must be installed on the speed pulse wire Speed detection circuit lead on the vehicles injection computer.
I know my new tucks has a speed sensing volume control built in to the radio.
Can I use this cable for the Nav system? What do you all know about this cable, i.e. Where does it come from, what type of voltage does it use, is it a pulse type cable, what color is the cable.
Hello USMC,
I installed a pioneer avic88 nav unit in my '06 f350 psd. I conected the grey/black wire from the trucks radio harness to my pioneer speed sensor wire. The grey/black wire is I believe from the abs system and it was used to adjust the radio volume of the stock unit while driving.
There is an easy way to find out if a wire is a VSS wire. Probe into the suspected wire with a DMM and set your DMM to ACV. Drive the vehicle. As you increase in speed the wire voltage should increase proportionally. If it does not it’s not a VSS wire.
