Took my baby from Pittsburgh Pa to Orlando Fla last week. Went to a convention so i wasn't pulling anything. First part of trip I averaged my normal hwy 14-15mpg, when i got below the mountains I thought the gas gauge went bad this big girl got 16.3mpg @ average 80mph w/air on full tilt!! Now my question, I left her in motel parking lot for 5 days without starting ,on the sixth day I went to disney and the beast acted like one! shifting was harsh and she actually began to miss a bit. The plugs have less than 10k on them (PAST POST) ANY IDEAS. I've been back a week and shifts are ok but still get a very slight miss once in a while. No MIL lamp. Gas mileage back to normal and it gets driven at least 200 miles per day every day. Thanks guys your imput is highly appreciated
Had you purchased gas prior to it sitting awhile ?
Had it rained alot while it sat?
Moisture in the plug areas, or bad tank of gas.
if it keeps doing it take it in
By the way maybe put a sig in your profile so we can see what model and yr truck you have
Rich
OkayNow that I know the yr of your truck.
You did plugs about 10k ago ,did you replace the boots? and use dilectric grease on them prior to reinstall.
I would say a boot could be cracking after 88k or a cop breaking down.
Rich you're probably right. When i did plugs replaced 10 boots and 3 cops. I'm thinking one of the cops, and yes I'm an old service mgr and did it the correct way (only after being cheap, but that's a whole different post) Thanks for the input!
