99 F350 auto 97K. Got a leak coming fom either the pedestal or the ebpv actuator arm? Whats the best approach when addressing this issue? at this time remove and replace all seals on the pedestal even if its only the seal on the arm? or just the orings and seals that get opened up? I am guessing since I am in there do it all? Anything you can point out to me would be greatly appreciated!
If you're in there, just replace them all. I've had my turbo off multiple times, and once the turbo is off, it's only another 10 minutes and 4 bolts to have the pedistal off too. And I wouldn't try to reuse any of those o-rings...too many horror stories about leaks from reused o-rings.
Check KCM for the turbo o-ring and bolt kit. It's got all the necessary o-rings and some new turbo hold down bolts for removing the turbo and pedistal. And I think Dieselsite has the complete seal kit for the EBPV.
The turbo and pedistal are going to have to come off. The EBPV is actually located within the pedistal as are the seals to be replaced. There's not enough room around the turbo to work and to get the EBPV arm out of the hole in the actuator rod, the turbo will need to come off. It's not all that hard. The first time it took me a while, maybe 2 hours, but I think the last time I had it out in under an hour.
