I have a 2000 F-150 that is acting strange. While driving down the road, the wipers will just come on by themself. Sometimes they will go back and forth 3 or 4 times and then stop; other times they just do it once and then stop; sometimes it will go days without doing it at all. Also, both power door locks aren't working correctly. More often than not, you have to manually push the locks down for them to lock; other times they do work correctly. They always unluck correctly as long as you use the key (the remote doesn't always open the door). Do you think there is some sort of electrical problem or do you think they are two separate issues?
Also check behind the fuse panel. It is a known issue for a windshield leak to allow water to get to the back of the panel and cause wierd issues like that.
It very well could be water getting in behind the fuse panel as it is sometimes worse after going through the car wash. How do you suggest I fix that problem if that is what it is?
You will need to pull the panel away from the firewall....dry it all out then get your windshield resealed. Make sure you don't have any corrosion behind there either. And cross you fingers no permanent damage was done.
Got a similar problem here. My 99' XLT SC Sport has those fantom windshield wipers. I just thought about it and it does seem to happen after I wash her.
