overdrive off light... ???
my buddy just bought this new truck well its new to him (its a 2000) and the automatic shifter has the o/d off light in the end of it... what's weird is that when you put it in neutral, the light comes on and when you put it in drive, then the light goes out but it still kicks out of overdrive.. any ideas?

There is a known issue with the 2000-2001 or thereabouts, related to the OD switch.
Usually the problem is hitting the button blows a fuse, because a wire wore through and is grounding out.
It's not too far of a leap to assume that the wire wearing out causes what you see

well, your o/d off light means you have a transmission problem. Its like a check engine light for the transmission. You need to have it looked at or put a scanner on it and find out what the problem is. I had the same problem once upon a time and then it cost me 1300 for a new trans... (can keep tranny's cheap if you want, but you will have to travel and send me the core but it saves you like 800 dollars...)
