I am looking for a good pair of headers that I can put on my 1979 F250 with a 460, 4X4, auto. They need to be 50 state smog legal because I live in California. I have looked up L&L but I didn't see any that were 50 state smog legal.
This link was helpful, but unfortunately, when I clicked on my engine size the only things that came up for the 302 engine were header flange kits, not actual headers....
Not to play the devils advocate, but, and this is from some Nissan forums, why don't you just put stock on when you get it inspected, then replace with some stockish looking headers for the other 364 days a year?
But they dont say 50 street legal. Infact all thier 2wd are 50 state legal but none of thier 460/4x4 ones are... and all the 4x4 460 ones are marked as 'specialty & engine swap headers'. Are you sure the 460 was a factory engine in a 79 4x4? My 79 4x4 F-250 has a 400. I am not a 460 expert so I dont know what all they came in stock... might want to verify that is stock option or you may have more problems passing check other than the headers.

I hijacked the thread and was questioning the availability of headers on the summit site for the 79 ford with a 302. Sorry about that. I did look it over and I saw the 460 engines are pretty well covered.
plance1... I was responding to the "I didn't see any of those that were 50 state smog legal" when 1979FordF-250 responded to the summit link.
So as I suspected then there is no way to get 50-state emissions legal headers for a '79 f250 4x4 460 since that motor was never factory on not cali emmisions legal anyhow. 1979FordF-250 might be in some trouble with cali emmisions. If it was 2wd they got em 50-state legal but not for 4x4.
