I have a '78 Ford F250. It is a Ranger-Lariat Camper Special with a 400. On the window sticker it lists as one of the options:"Exhaust System-Reduced Sound". What does this option consist of? I checked the parts books and all of the mufflers were the same but the reduced sound tailpipe was different. How was it different?
I'm trying to keep it as original as possible since it only has 22K miles. The muffler is original (can still read the ford ink stamped part #) and I believe the tailpipe (somewhat rotten) is also.
Mac's also lists an optional "defuser" for the tailpipe. What does this do? Is that part of the reduced sound package? Thanks.
