Question Crate Motor?

Where is a dependable place to by a crate motor ? Iam in portland oregon. I need a 300 v6 for my 1988 ford f150. the motor in the truck still runs strong but I would like to have a back up in the garage on hand .I have the v6 EFI.do crate motors come with EFI ? Is it a good idea to go carb?.

If its FI then leave it FI. I wouldnt buy one until you need it. No sense on buying an engine you dont need.

i agree with tim. if you wanna buy anything now go the junkyard route and have that motor rebuilt over time. or just have the machine work done and rebuild the rest yourself in the garage. that way your not dumping a bunch of cash right away. this would also give you a chance to upgrade to a better cam, get some head work done etc.. really build a strong running 300-6. i wouldnt even bother with a crate motor and stay clear of schucks etc..
