Mystery wire!

While removing the A/C from my 89 B2 I noticed a wire right dead in front of the battery behind the headlight harness not connected to anything.

The end of it has a round connector. Looks like it either was grounded to the chassis with a bolt or went to the battery terminal. About 6 inches back from the connector is a stock Ford wiring harness splice (connector).

I put the end of the wire on the positive terminal of the battery with the key out of the ignition and there was a 1 second long clicking sound. The sound was coming from behind the firewall around the master cylinder area.

There is about a thousand things in that area and can not tell what was making the clicking sound.

Can anyone tell me what this wire is for and where it should be connected to? Thanks!

Post this in the electrical/wiring forum. Do you have a wiring diagram for your truck? Be sure to post the wires color.
