New Sneakers

I am in the market for a new set of tires and am torn between bfg mud terrain and pro comp mudders on my 98 f150, which is better? As haveing never put mud tires on my truck I am interested in which would be better for my rig. Any thoughts?

I was also unsure of the size, I hear that you can put 285x75R16 on these things with the "off road lift kit" from factory with no rub or anything like that rather then the stock size 265x75R16.

Take a look at my gallery. I have ProComp XTerrains 285/75/R16 w/o a lift. I do however have helper springs which lifted the rear up a little and I believe the torsion bars were cranked a little to compensate. I don't know that for sure, I'm basing it off of looking at my buddy's F150 torsion bar placement compared to mine. Anyhow, I have plenty of room with the new tires as well as plenty of wheel travel. I still need to post some flex shots in my gallery.

I was close to getting the ProComp mud terrains too but I chose the XTerrains mainly for aesthetics and also for less noise on the highway.

Firestone Destination M/T's have a harder rubber compound, and will wear much, much slower than other M/T's.

A friend of mine has the ProComp M/T's on his Jeep wrangler (33x12.50), and after 18,000 miles, the tires are down to about 30% tread.

IMO you need to buy tires for your driving style. Don't buy a soft compound tires if you like to dive into corners AND are worried about wear.
