Differential covers

Anyone got an opinion on upgrading from the stock differential covers? Are they really worth the money and should I switch to a synthetic fluid while I'm at it?

i like to run synthetic fluid in mine esp since i tow a lot. i just feel more comfortable.

aftermarket covers are more of a personalization to your truck to make it look more like you. the only covers that really do any good are the aluminum finned ones to help dissipate heat and increase fluid capacity. however i could never trust an aluminum cover so close to the ground. one good crack and you can expect big bucks for a rebuild when the fluid all drains out and you run the bearings dry. not worth it in my opinion. ford's steel covers work good for me

Switch to synthetic fluid like fishman said. Thats all that I ever run in everything.

Unless you just want to buy one, stick with the stock cover and spend the money of HP mods.

IF i were going to get one, I'd get a Mag-hytec. They're aluminum, and tough, but $$$ too. If you're towing more then wheeling, definetely get a finned alum. If the other way around, stay with what you got. Chrome covers are sometimes less quality than stock. I agree with the above parties related to synthetic.

it only takes one cinder block or stump that you didnt see in the dark

no prolly not very probable, but i wouldnt wanna have to worry/think about it. i still run a ford stock steel cover on my trail rig and bashed the HELL outta it and still no problems!

lol, well we all have our opinions!

however i know from experience that my stock cover will take a good beating! if you need a finned alum cover you have other problems dealing with heat!
