My Buddy Has A 95 250 With The Diesel. The Deal Is, He Has Oil In His Air Filter. We Took The Intake Tube Off Up To The Turbo. Everything Is Covered In A Thick Layer Of Oil And The Fins In The Turbo Are Pretty Chewed Up. Im Pretty Sure That Its A Bad Thing But Im Not Really Sure What The Problem Is. I Was Thinking Probably The Seals Inside Of The Turbo. Whould He Be Alright With Just Getting His Turbo Rebuilt Or Is There Anything Else That He Needs To Be Looking At. Any Help Would Be Great. Thanks.
It may be just the normal oil found in the intake pipe. Search this forum for CCV Mod for more info. If the engine is puffing smoke alot then maybe the turbo needs new orings in the pedistal (base that it's mounted on).
The intake system on these trucks are known to leak dirt past the filter if not sealing correctly. Do a search for kwik filter for more info.
The turbo wheel can be replaced by anyone with basic mechanic skills and some patience.
