First off let me say this....I hate to be the guy that gets on here and ask question about a car....but all the mazda forums dont get the same quality of mechanics responding. So this is where I got advice to keep my 97 F150 going 200,000 miles...and now I need your help with my wifes car.
99 Mazda Protoge 1.6L engine....105,221 miles.
check engine light is on and wont stay off. Keeps throwing an 02 sensor code. Here is what I have done -
Replaced both O2 Sensors
Air Filter
PCV valve
Repaired a vaccum leak on the air intake rubber hose
Cleaned throttle body
Cleaned MAF sensor.
Need more ideas...I am stationed in hawaii in the US Army, and i cant find a reliable shop to go to and I never get out of the dealer without getting taken for a ride. A lot of my tools are back on the mainland so anything else I can with basic stuff would be great. I am clearing the code by turning off the battery. Does this work like people say....it is clearing the light for about 40 miles...but is it really clearing the code?
Thanks in advance....and God bless the United States Infantry.
borowed a freinds code reader today...both o2 sensors are reading up around 90. I think normal is around 45 right. Like an idiot I forgot to write down the code. But it said it was the second o2 sensor.
